RU violence: Attackers Police & BCL; case against Shibir (!) Over 350 sued in 6 cases

Dhaka- Six cases have been filed against over 350 people, including president of Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Rajshahi University unit Ashraful Alam Emon, in connection with Sunday’s violence on the university campus.
Shamsur Nur, officer-in-charge of Matihar Police Station, said RU Registrar Entajul Haque filed two cases mentioning names of 150 students while police filed two cases against 45 identified and 150 unidentified students on Monday afternoon.
Besides, Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Tanyanda Ovi filed two more cases in the evening against 10 identified and 50-60 unidentified people. Emon were made accused the two cases.
On Sunday, over 60 Rajshahi University (RU) students were injured, including 30 with bullets, as police swung into action while they were agitating on the campus in protest against fee hike and continuation of evening master’s programmes.
The students have been staging demonstration on the campus since January 16 protesting the authorities’ decision to raise their academic fees and introduce evening programmes at the university.
Later, the university authorities closed the university for an indefinite period to quell the unrest.
Almost all the major dailies; online news outlets and TV channels reported that Police and armed BCL activists and police swooped down on the demonstrators as they agitated for the third consecutive day.
The protesters tried to take cover when attacked by police but the ruling party’s student wing activists then swung into action with police standing by. 
The demonstrators alleged the BCL university unit president Mizanur Rahman Rana led the attacks.
Five journalists were injured in the clashes.
Several protesters said two homemade bombs were exploded near the building but no one was injured.
Around noon, several handmade bombs exploded when BCL leader Rana and his supporters pounced on the protesters.
Police became active again after the BCL attack, lobbing teargas canisters and firing rubber bullets on the protesters.
Chhatra League activists later took out processions on the campus and allegedly beat up several students.
In a video made available to bdnews24.com, a suspected Chhatra League activist could be seen firing from a pistol.
Picture published in dailies showed armed BCL ciders firing arms on demonstrators. TV channels broadcasted video footage of BCL activists’ hooliganism.
Despite all these evidence of BCL activists’ hooliganism police filled cases against activists of Shibir, the student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to divert the attention of the public and save the ruling party activists in a shameful incident happened in a student campus.
